Electronics Electronics can play an important role in catching fish. Though I can say that they are not a necessity to successful fishing. To help you find underwater cover and structure quickly and easily they cant be beat. As far as actually showing you fish I have a different opinion over the manufacturers. I own an Aqua-Vu underwater camera and have done some experimenting with it. When my "fish locator" would show fish I would drop the camera down to take a look at the fish to see what size and type of fish it was. Too many time's the "fish" is a sparse weed bed or other objects that are not fish. I played with the sensitivity settings on both locator's to try and get a weed to show up instead of a fish but to no avail. I have since turned the fish ID features off of both of my locator's. What the Aqua-View has done for me, is to let me know how to read my locators better. Know when certain things pop-up on the locator I can tell a weed bed from a school of fish or minnows. Hey I know allot of people don't agree with the underwater camera's but to be honest with you it doesn't help you directly to catch more fish. True enough you can see fish and their movements and how they are feeding or not feeding. But it does not put them on your hook for you. Fishing below a flasher is about the same as watching your bait with the camera. A good flasher will show fish moving in on your bait and even tell you when the fish has taken your bait. As long as you can visualize what the lines on the flasher are telling you.So I guess for my opinion as to what is best for panfishing electronics, I would pick a flasher. And the flasher would be a portable one so you could use it for ice fishing or when you go to that small lake with a canoe or fish in another persons boat that doesn't have one. Pay attention to your electronics when you get on fish and you can find many more spots like it that will hold fish. Good luck on the water. |
